    Bench Consumables for Dispatch

    A packing bench runs on a short list of consumables. Running out of any one of them stops dispatch, which is why they are worth holding in depth rather than ordering weekly.

    • Kraft and honeycomb wrap: cushioning and void fill that customers can recycle kerbside in most areas.
    • Packing paper: wrapping, separating and filling around lighter goods.
    • Fragile and handling stickers: applied at the bench where the packer knows what is inside.
    • Tape and dispensers: the single highest use item on any bench.
    • Reorder point: set a minimum for each consumable and reorder at that level, not when the shelf is empty.

    Work out what a busy week consumes, then hold two weeks of that. Emergency freight on a carton of tape costs more than the stock it replaces.
