    Masking Tape for Painting, Marking and Temporary Holding

    Masking tape is the tape you use when the tape has to come off again. Painting lines, temporary labelling and holding parts during assembly are its everyday jobs in a warehouse or workshop.

    • Painting: a clean edge on walls, racking and floor line work.
    • Temporary marking: batch notes, quarantine markings and pick instructions that get removed later.
    • Holding: light parts and covers during assembly, repair and packing.
    • Removal: pull back on itself at a shallow angle, and remove sooner rather than later, since adhesive gets harder to release over time.
    • Not for sealing cartons: masking tape is not designed to hold a carton closed in transit.

    Press the edge down firmly with a finger or a plastic blade before painting. Most bleed under masking tape is a sealing problem, not a paint problem.

    Seal the edge by pressing it down firmly along its length before you paint, and apply the first coat lightly along the edge.
    How long can masking tape stay on? + -
    Remove it as soon as the job allows. The longer it stays, especially in heat or sunlight, the more likely it is to leave residue.
