Glue Guns and Adhesives

Hot melt suits quick fixes and light assembly in a warehouse: fixing displays, holding parts during packing, and repairs where tape would be visible or untidy.

  • Heat up time: let the gun reach temperature before use, since cool glue does not bond properly.
  • Surface preparation: clean and dry surfaces, as dust and oil stop the bond from forming.
  • Work time: hot melt sets quickly, so position the parts before applying rather than after.
  • Safety: the nozzle and the glue are hot enough to burn, so use a stand and keep it away from the bench edge.
  • Not structural: hot melt holds light parts. Anything load bearing needs a mechanical fixing.

Keep a scrap board under the gun. Drips onto a bench surface cure hard and take longer to remove than the job took.
